"There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him:
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a hearts that devises wicked plans, feet that hurry to run to evil, a lying witness who testifies falsely, and one who sows discord in a family."(Proverbs 6:16-19)
This week, I am going to read this list each morning as a reminder and each night in order to make account for what I need to ask for forgiveness. Not simply saying I'm sorry, but praying for the strength to turn from the behavior. This list is simply specifics of what it means to not live the great commandments: Love the LORD your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. But, they are specifics that we all know all too well: as witnesses, as victims, and as perpetrators.
But, the Good News is: if we live as Christ, more and more each day, this list will begin to vanish---to be erased---one episode at a time. This is not some idealistic fantasy. It is our Christian reality; it is our Truth and our hope.
"In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all thngs according to his counsel and will, so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory."---Ephesians 1: 11-12
